Self-Assurance – is having confidence in your own abilities or character. It is being confident in what we say and do and not doubting ourselves.
Dear parents/guardians,
This month we are learning about self-assurance and why it is such an important life skill. Self-assurance is having confidence in your own abilities or character. Self-assurance can open many doors for our children and is a big part of our class. We want our students to understand how self-assurance can help them succeed.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- Praise your child when they do well.
It is important to let your child know you are proud of them. When they succeed at something, praise them and offer positive feedback. - Teach resilience.
Nobody is perfect and succeeds at everything every time. Let your child know there will be setbacks and failures but these failures do not define them. Teach your kid to learn from their mistakes and move forward. - Be a role model.
You must love yourself before you can teach your child to appreciate themselves. Praise yourself when you do well. Let your child know of your success and the steps you took to get there. - Help your child set realistic goals.
When they start a new sport of course they want to be the best. Help them set small goals they can achieve before setting a huge goal that may be unrealistic.
