Who we Are And why You Should Train Here

Welcome to the Glens Falls Karate Academy, where we are all about creating a respected martial arts training facility and community fixture in the Glens Falls Region. We are dedicated to the study of martial arts, specifically Okinawan Karate, and also serve as an early childhood development center.

Our Academy provides an age specific, family friendly environment for training students of all ages and experience levels. We strive to maintain a tight knit dojo community, referred to as our Dojo Family. Families are encouraged to train together, with students expected to support and contribute to each other’s success in training.

We believe in community involvement and the responsibility to make a positive impact in our community.

About Our Programs

Our programs focus on the development of mind, body, and spirit – the three pillars of martial arts training and personal development. We practice developing these areas through physical training, development of character, and encouraging a lifestyle of self-care.

Kids Programs

At Glens Falls Karate Academy, our kids programs focus heavily on character development and life skills. We teach character development through basic martial arts skills in order to create a strong foundation to be built on later in life. This practice creates well adjusted young adults who may continue their training to become responsible martial artists in our adult programs. With a focus on key areas of development (physical, intellectual, emotional, and social) at key stages of growth (3-5 years old, 6-8 years old, 9-12 years old, 13-16 years old, and 17+) we are able to guide this process with precision.

Adult Programs

Our adult martial arts programs at Glens Falls Karate Academy focus heavily on personal development through the development of mind, body and spirit. By using the same developmental focuses mentioned above (physical, intellectual, emotional, and social) to target the needs of adults, we have created a skill-based curriculum that helps create a lifestyle change that makes success (defined personally for each student) a bit easier to measure and attain. Adult students begin with physical development by learning fundamental martial arts skills and continue to develop their mind through disciplined training and application of technique.

When a strong foundation is built and adult students have proven to be responsible in their training (use of skills to not be a bully or danger to society) they are invited to move to the next level of their training where more functional physical training takes place. Development of mind and spirit begin to take place at this point too, as martial arts philosophy is beginning to become a way of life.

Beyond Black Belt

If students find that they wish to continue in their training beyond the intermediate level – advanced training is available at this point for those willing to continue developing themselves in the martial arts tradition. This training is completed as part of a larger organization through the Goshin-Ryu Karate Association.
